What the @!?#% was I thinking?

The first day of cycling done. Double hatcher Pass elevation in the same distance. It was misty and you could barely see a mile in front of you. Seems like we’re climbing the mountain all day.

I can live with that, but the evening after the ride was over, many of us commented about how the elevation profiles for this trip were not posted on the website at the time we all booked the trip. They are now, and I enclosed them in an earlier post. Many days with 3500+ climbs!! Next day is 4500!!! That is crazy… Take a look at you have a chance at this a ridiculously hilly ride. I wouldn’t be surprised if a mutiny ensued at some point…

The ride was Lao Cai to Bac Ha; a small hill town known for production of hooch and a very large market including livestock on the weekends.

  1. Pictures are beautiful. Countryside looks scenic and I always get a kick out of those blue chairs. Seems like you’ve had blue chairs in every southeast Asia trip. Plus I always like seeing monkeys!
